Having pets can be great, but unfortunately they can leave behind a lot of their hair.
Wherever they sit, sleep, or rub against will get gradually build up a layer of their fur.
Seeing hair all over your clothing, carpeting, and furniture gets annoying fast. But there are ways to clean up the hair, and sometimes prevent it.
- Put covers on your furniture—This way was popular when furniture covers were in style, but now they are probably kind of tacky. The plastic couch cover went out along time ago. But a blanket over a chair isn’t too bad either.
- The best way to remove hair also requires the most work. Simply get your hand wet and rub it across the hairy area you want to clean. Your wet hand will cause the hair to roll up into clumps, which you can then easily collect and throw away. This works on furniture and clothing. There are other variations on this method where people use rubber gloves, Velcro, sponges, or even a wet rag to achieve a similar hair collecting effect.
- Next best would probably be the sticky rollers. You might have to go through a lot of sheets on a roll , but they work well at collecting dust and fur.
- The previous two methods will work for carpeting, but can be very time consuming. I’ve read that sprinkling baking soda on your carpet and vacuuming it up is a good way to remove hair. But I have yet to try it.
- The best way to help prevent fur would be to regularly groom your pets. They shed a lot in the summer months, so you should try to keep ahead of them. Any pet brush should do well at collecting their hair. And most pets enjoy being brushed.
