Some examples of questions people might ask:

1.) What is the best kind of vacuum to get?

This is strictly a matter of opinion. There is a wide variety of vacuums available. Some have bags, some have canisters. Some have filters, some do not. The best thing to decide on what features you want in your vacuum, and research models with those features.

2.) How often should I get my carpet cleaned?

The number of times you get your carpet steam cleaned is also a matter of preference and how much traffic your carpet sees. If you are getting it professionally cleaned, then probably once or twice a year for moderately used carpeting. Rooms that don't see much traffic, even less so. Some people over steam clean their carpets and end up damaging them. Your main goal in steam cleaning is to collect all of the deep down dirt, pet hair, and allergens your vacuum can't remove.

3.) What is the best method for cleaning my carpeting?

For the most part vacuuming will collect most of the unwanted stuff in your carpeting. If you want a deeper cleaning, you will have to resort to steam cleaning or shampooing.

4.) What should I consider, when buying new carpeting?

All carpets reach a point where they no longer look good, even after cleaning. When this time comes it is probably time to get some new carpeting. First thing you want to do is set a budget for yourself and measure all of the room(s) for which you are considering new carpeting. Think about the use the room will see. High traffic rooms will need better carpeting than less used rooms. Shop around in carpet stores and home improvement stores. When you choose some possible carpet selections, take home some sample and see how they match the rest of your house. Find out the installation rates that the store charge. Choose a good quality underpadding, since it will help the comfort level of your carpeting and extend it's life.

5.) What is the best way to vacuum pet hair?

I've read that if you sprinkle baking soda onto your carpet it helps release the hair. Then you just need to vacuum up the baking soda and pet hair.

6.) Should I get a bagged or bagless vacuum?

Bagless vacuums are more convenient in that you don't have to buy bags for them. But they can be messier than a bag when it is time to clean out the vacuum. Bags can be slightly cleaner, but you have to keep buying new bags. And if you're model gets outdated, it will become harder to find bags for it.

7.) How well does a vacuum remove dust and allergens?

This mostly depends on the vacuum. Vacuums collect a good amount of the stuff close to the carpet surface. Vacuums with filters remove more dust and allergens than those without filters.

8.) How do I hire reputable carpet cleaners?

Check with friends and family for services they have used in the past. Research the companies you are interested in. Call them to get quotes, referrals, and to answer questions about the service. You can also check the company name witht the Better Business Bureau.

9.) Should I buy my own steam cleaner?

This is again a matter of opinion. Most people are fine with vacuums. But if you don't want to hire professional cleaners, or want to steam clean more than a few times a year, then you might consider getting a steam cleaner. The home models may not be as powerful as the professional units, but they work.

10.)My vacuum's roller brush quit spinning, what wrong ?

For starters check to see if the brush is clogged up with hair or string wrapped around it. Clean out the brush if there is. Or the rubber belt may be loose or broken. This belt drives the brush. So if it is broken or too old, the brush will have no tension on it and not spin. If this is the case install a new belt. If there is something else wrong, you may have to see a vacuum repair shop.
